BOARD OF GROWING Job Description 11/1/06
Mission Statement: To Know Christ and To Make Christ Known. We accomplish our mission through Reaching, Welcoming, Growing, and Caring.
The Board of Growing primarily focuses on assisting the members of the Congregation to find deeper meaning and understanding in their faith and to strengthen fellowship between the congregational members, spiritually and socially. Through this area of ministry, the congregation seeks to provide each and every member with the tools and opportunities necessary to be an active participant in the Kingdom of God. (by-law B11.05.03.d.2)
Purpose: To oversee, assist, and provide direction to all ministry teams actively involved in areas of Growing ministry as identified by the congregation and the church council.
Structure: The board will consist of at least two members of the church council, the Associate Pastor, Director of Children’s Ministry, Director of Youth Ministry and others as may be appointed by the church council.
Meetings: The board will meet as needed at the convenience of the board members.
Responsibilities:
To monitor how the congregation is doing in caring out its mission to know Christ and To Make Christ Known through Growing in our relationships with one another and with God.
To help implement new and creative ways of Growing together.
To seek out members of the congregation who have the gift of leadership and encourage them to be a leader for one of the various Growing ministry teams.
To help identify those in the congregation who have the spiritual gift of teaching, organizing, witnessing, planning, or working with children and youth and encourage them to become involved in a growing ministry team.
To identify the resources necessary to carry out the growing ministry of the congregation and monitor the budget for the growing ministry as approved by the congregation.
